Monumental artworks

Ervant Nicogosian’s vernacular artworks though lesser known are of huge importance in understanding artist’s practice. Those were realized in different periods of his lifetime: 1963 – the marble pavement from U.A.P. artworks in Pangratti street (Bucharest); 1971 – ceramic mosaic from Bărăganul, Brăila department; 1987 – stone and marble mosaic from Râmnicu Vâlcea, with the title “The battle from Posada” and the Murano glass mosaic realised in 1990 for the Sâmbăta de Sus monastery, depicting the founders of the place Constantin Brâncoveanu, prince of Wallachia, Antonie Plămădeală and Nicodim mytropolits of Ardeal.

The variety of chosen subjects as well as the used materials are another proof of artistic craft of Nicogosian.

For the artwork “The battle from Posada” realized in 1987 for the State Archive building from Râmnicu Vâlcea, Nicogosian received the High Prize for monumental art.
